Growing up I had several family friends that worked for AIG Retirement Services. As I watched them become incredibly successful in their career, I knew that was something I wanted for myself. As I learned more about the business, I knew I wanted to seriously pursue a career at AIG Retirement Services. I went to school for Business and started working on my securities licenses my last semester of college. I joined AIG Retirement Services in 2003 as a financial advisor working in multiple market sectors of the business for 14 years. In 2017, I was promoted to the District Vice President and within two years our district was ranked #1 in the country across AIG Retirement Services. My career at AIG Retirement Services has completely changed my life for my entire family. The opportunity to grow my business over the years is incredible. I have clients that have become great friends and co-workers who have become family. The hard work and dedication I have put forth to be successful has paid off with the support of such a wonderful company. I am forever grateful for the career I have at AIG Retirement Services and look forward to the continued journey.

Reflecting back, it may have seemed unlikely that I would end up in a career centered on financial education and planning. I grew up in a low-income community where financial literacy was an unknown concept. It was not until after I served four years in the U.S. Marines Corps that I was able to earn my degree from the University of Washington that my future started to come into focus.

I joined AIG Retirement Services in 2013 as a financial advisor. I was drawn to the work and this company because my time was spent working with my local community in Wenatchee, WA helping everyday people prepare not just for retirement, but financial security, something that would have made a world of difference to my family had it been available.

I loved helping clients find clarity around, not just their retirement, but what they wanted out of life. Our conversations and planning went far beyond what age do you want to retire, but into what kind of life do you want to live. Many times, we see in our communities, that everyday folks don’t feel confident or worthy to have a high level of financial planning, but our advisors are the bridge to bring this important information to our clients, which in turn could help them feel more empowered.

In 2019, I was promoted to District Vice President in WA and AK. I could never have imagined leaving the financial advisor role as it was the most fulfilling work I had experienced, however, my hope with this new role is to be a resource to my team, so that together, we can provide a better client experience to more individuals. I have been fortunate to find a company where I can be rewarded for my efforts, while doing work that I am so proud of.

In 2018, I was working in retail banking helping customers with checking/savings accounts and promotional credit cards.  I loved helping others with their finances and I knew that I could be helping them with so much more.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t move to the department where I could help people with their broader finances because I lacked a college degree.  I came across an opportunity to join AIG Retirement Services and after learning about the company, I applied to become a telephone advisor at their Retirement Education Center.  I loved the idea of learning to be a financial advisor and thought that this would be a great way to start.  I have never been more correct.

I was hired in late 2018, as a Client Support Advisor and spent the first four months obtaining my insurance and FINRA licenses.  Over the last three years, I have grown more as a person than I could ever imagine, both professionally and personally.  AIG has given me the opportunity to engage and partner with our participants in the most productive and meaningful way possible.  Every day I get to do what I love – talking with others, helping plan out their retirement and tackle their overall retirement goals.  I love helping others plan to achieve their financial goals and helping them gain financial freedom – it is one of the most gratifying experiences.

AIG Retirement Services is more than my employer – it is my second family.  I am a part of a very supportive team and a part of an exceptional organization.  AIG has continued to support me with furthering my career and helping develop my skills into a future leadership role.
